| Underway |
 |
| M/V Sea Life Discovery is Alaska’s original semi-submersible vessel. On this vessel underwater windows three feet below the surface allow passengers to peer directly into the sea. |
| The View Below |
 |
| Six large LCD flat-panel monitors are mounted around the viewing area. These monitors are used to aid guests in looking for animals in the different habitats. They also display a live video feed from the diver held camera during the dive show. Another benefit of the monitors is they allow guests to video tape the dive show on their video cameras. A public address system both above and below deck allow guests to enjoy an interpretive narrative from the tour guide.

| In its original construction, the 55 foot Semi-Submersible was built by Midship Marine in Harvey, Louisiana. The M/V Sea Life Discovery was put into service in Sitka, August of 2000. The M/V Sea Life Discovery was lengthened to 65 feet in 2004 by Alaska Ship and Drydock in Ketchikan, Alaska. The vessel now comfortably seats 49 guests in the underwater viewing area. In addition to lengthening the hull, special modifications were made to improve vessel handling and operating capabilities. The M/V Sea Life Discovery is powered by twin 175 hp John Deer powertec marine engines. Electrical power is supplied by a 20 kw Northern Lights diesel generator. Maneuverability is enhanced by a 26 hp, 48 volt Wesmar bow thruster. |
